
Michelle Yeoh
Everything Everywhere All at Once actress Michelle Yeoh was born in Malaysia, later moving to England to study ballet at the Royal Academy of Dance in London. However, after a spinal injury prevented her from becoming a ballet dancer, she transferred her attention to acting. The Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon star relocated to Hong Kong in the 1980s and began her film career in action and martial arts films, where she did most of her own stunts. In 1997, Yeoh found Hollywood success with the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies.
The Strike Back actress went on to film even more highly acclaimed movies, including 2005’s Memoirs of a Geisha, 2011’s The Lady, 2018’s Crazy Rich Asians and 2019’s Last Christmas. Yeoh also took her talents to television, starring on Star Trek: Discovery, from 2017 to 2020 and The Witcher: Blood Origin in 2022. Her critically acclaimed role as Evelyn Quan Wang in 2022’s Everything Everywhere All at Once won Yeoh her first Golden Globe and earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress. She is the first Malaysian actor to be nominated for an Oscar.
As for her personal life, the award-winning actress was married to businessman Dickson Poon from 1988 to 1992. Though she and partner Jean Todt have yet to tie the knot after getting engaged in 2005, their relationship has been going strong for more than 15 years. She is stepmother of his son.
