Nancy Kerrigan

Nancy Ann Kerrigan is a veteran figure skater and public figure. She began figure skating at the age of 6 and won her first competition just two years later. She graduated from Stoneham High School in Massachusetts and later obtained a degree in business from Emmanuel College. With the support of her family, she was able to continue pursuing figure skating, eventually competing at the international level.

Kerrigan’s skating career contained many highlights. She established herself as a strong competitor early on and participated in her first U.S. Figure Skating Championships in 1987. She went on to become a two-time Olympic medalist, competing for Team USA in the 1992 and 1994 Winter Olympics.

In 1994, Kerrigan was the victim of a targeted attack orchestrated by the husband of skating rival Tonya Harding. A hitman was hired to injure Kerrigan’s knee, and while she was forced to pull out of competition the following day, she quickly recovered and returned to the ice. There have been multiple films and documentaries made about the attack, including the Oscar-nominated movie I, Tonya. The athlete retired from competition, going pro after the Olympics.

Kerrigan has remained a public figure, making cameos as herself in shows like Boy Meets World and Fresh Off the Boat, and she participated in the 24th season of Dancing With the Stars. Kerrigan has also served as a special correspondent for figure skating broadcasts.

In 1995, Kerrigan married her manager Jerry Solomon. The couple have three children together: Matthew, Brian and Nicole.
