Peter Hermann

Peter Hermann is an actor best known for his roles on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Younger. Hermann moved to Germany with his family as an infant and returned to the U.S. at age 10. After graduating from Yale University, he briefly worked as a high school English teacher in New York.

Hermann began his acting career in the late 1980s with guest roles on series including Guiding Light and Beautiful People. He gained attention in 2002 when he joined Law & Order: SVU as defense attorney Trevor Langan, a recurring role he played until 2022.

In addition to SVU, the actor starred as Charles Brooks on the TV Land series Younger from 2015 to 2021. He later joined the cast of Blue Bloods as Jack Boyle, where he remained a principal cast member until 2024. He has also acted on the big screen, appearing in films such as United 93 (2006) and Philomena (2013).

Hermann married Mariska Hargitay in 2004 after meeting her on the set of Law & Order: SVU. They welcomed son August in 2006, and later adopted children Amaya (born in 2011) and Andrew (born in 2011).
