Samuel L. Jackson

Samuel L. Jackson is an Oscar-nominated actor and producer known for his roles in Pulp Fiction, Snakes on a Plane and The Avengers franchise. Jackson was raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, by his mother and grandparents. He attended Morehouse College in Atlanta, where he initially pursued a degree in marine biology before switching to drama. He graduated in 1972 and later began acting in local theater productions.

Jackson’s early career included minor roles in films like Coming to America (1988) and Do the Right Thing (1989). He gained industry attention with his performance in 1991’s Jungle Fever, which led to a breakout role as Jules Winnfield in Quentin Tarantino’s iconic film Pulp Fiction in 1994. The performance earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Throughout his career, Jackson has appeared in over 100 films. Some of his most notable movies include Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995), Jackie Brown (1997), Unbreakable (2000), Coach Carter (2005), Django Unchained (2012), Kong: Skull Island (2017) and The Banker (2020). He is widely recognized as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in films such as Iron Man (2008), Avengers Infinity War (2018) and Captain Marvel (2019). In 2021, he was awarded an honorary Academy Award in 2021 for lifetime achievement.

Jackson has been married to actress and producer LaTanya Richardson Jackson since 1980. They have one daughter, Zoe Jackson (born in 1982), who works as a television producer and director.
