Timbaland

Timbaland (born Timothy Zachery Mosley) is a Grammy-winning producer, songwriter and artist known for reshaping pop with his distinctive sound. Timbaland was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia, where he grew up immersed in music. As a teenager, he was shot and temporarily paralyzed, an event that pushed him to focus intensely on making beats and songwriting. As a high schooler, he began experimenting with production, developing a style built on unconventional rhythms and futuristic textures.

Timbaland’s career took off in the 1990s through his close creative partnership with Missy Elliott and fellow Virginia native Magoo. He initially performed as S.B.I. before emerging as a go-to producer. His breakthrough came with productions for singers such as Aaliyah and Ginuwine, helping define the sound of late ’90s R&B and cementing his reputation behind the scenes.

Over the years, Timbaland has produced chart-topping songs for artists like Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Jay-Z and Beyoncé and has been nominated for 21 Grammy Awards. He took home his first Grammy in 2008, winning Best Dance Recording for “Sexy Back.” He has released his own albums, including Shock Value (2007) and Shock Value II (2009) and is known for producing mainstream hits such as “Pony,” “Promiscuous” and “Cry Me a River.”

The producer married Monique Idlett-Mosley in 2008. The couple welcomed daughter Reign in 2007 before divorcing in 2013. He is also father to sons Demetrius and Frankie from previous relationships. He later moved on with Michelle Dennis.
