
Viggo Mortensen
Viggo Mortensen is an actor, filmmaker and musician born in Watertown, New York. He also lived in Venezuela, Denmark and Argentina before returning to the U.S. as an adolescent. Mortensen, a graduate of St. Lawrence University, holds dual citizenship for Denmark and the U.S.
The actor is most well-known for playing Aragorn in the original Lord of the Rings trilogy. He has accumulated many other acting credits, including Green Book, G.I. Jane, The Road, Eastern Promises, The Dead Don’t Hurt and Captain Fantastic.
He has received three Academy Award nominations and numerous Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations for his work. In 2004, he won a SAG Award in Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.
Mortensen was married to Exene Cervenka from 1987 to 1997. The exes share a son, Henry (born January 1988). Mortensen found love with his partner Ariadna Gil, a Spanish actress, in 2009.
