Benson Boone
Benson James Boone is an American singer-songwriter who rose to popularity with his chart-topping song, “Beautiful Things,” in 2024. After a chance opportunity to fill in for a friend during his high school talent show, Boone began to show interest in a musical career. Boone graduated high school in 2020 and soon after auditioned for season 19 of American Idol in 2021. He made it to the top 24, where he then withdrew himself from the competition to focus more on his music.
After leaving Idol, Boone uploaded videos of himself singing to TikTok and amassed a following there. Dan Reynolds, lead singer of the Imagine Dragons, signed Boone to his label Night Street Records in 2021 after he caught his attention. Boone’s debut single, “Ghost Town,” was released that same year and gained some traction on TikTok, but his 2024 hit, “Beautiful Things,” skyrocketed him to fame.
In June 2024, Boone opened for Taylor Swift on some of her “Eras Tour” shows, alongside Paramore, on the London leg. During his Coachella 2025 performance, Boone announced the June 20, 2025, release of his second album, American Heart, and the subsequent “American Heart Tour.”
After graduating high school, Boone attended Brigham Young University, Idaho campus, for one semester before leaving to focus on his career. Boone was raised as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS church), but has stated he no longer identifies as a member.
