Chris Stapleton

Chris Stapleton (born Christopher Alvin Stapleton) is a Grammy-winning singer-songwriter known for his soulful voice and roots-driven blend of country, rock and blues. Born in Lexington, Kentucky, grew up in nearby Staffordsville. He grew up listening to classic country and Southern rock and learned guitar as a teenager. After graduating from Johnson Central High School, Stapleton moved to Nashville to pursue music. He attended Vanderbilt University for one year before leaving college after deciding to pursue professional songwriting.

Stapleton found early success as a songwriter, cowriting hits for artists including Kenny Chesney, George Strait and Luke Bryan. He went on to front the bluegrass band The SteelDrivers, earning him critical attention and heightening his profile as a musician. After leaving the group, he formed the rock-leaning band The Jompson Brothers before launching his solo career.

His breakthrough came in 2015 with the release of Traveller, which earned multiple Grammy Awards, including Best Country Album. Stapleton continued his success with From A Room: Volume 1 (2017) and From A Room: Volume 2 (2017), followed by 2020’s Starting Over. He has also collaborated with artists such as Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake and Taylor Swift throughout his career.

Stapleton married fellow singer-songwriter and frequent collaborator Morgane Stapleton in 2007. The couple frequently collaborate musically and share five children: son Waylon (born in 2009), daughter Ada (born in 2010), twin boys Macon and Samuel (born in 2018) and a fourth son (born in 2019).
