Freddie Prinze, Jr.

Freddie Prinze Jr. is an actor, writer and producer best known for starring in late 1990s and early 2000s teen movies including I Know What You Did Last Summer, She’s All That and Scooby-Doo. He is the only child of comedian Freddie Prinze and Kathy Prinze. His father died when he was 10 months old, and he was raised by his mother in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He performed with the Albuquerque Children’s Theatre as a child and graduated from La Cueva High School in 1994, moving to Los Angeles shortly after to pursue acting full-time.

After relocating to L.A., Prinze Jr. landed television roles on shows including Family Matters and The Watcher before making his film debut in To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday (1996). His breakout came with I Know What You Did Last Summer in 1997 and its 1998 sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. He went on to star in films including She’s All That (1999), Down to You (2000), Summer Catch (2001) and Scooby-Doo (2002).

Some of Prinze Jr.’s later credits include Boston Legal, Freddie, 24, Bones and Punky Brewster. He has also lent his voice to series such as Star Wars: Rebels and Robot Chicken. He reprised his role as Ray Bronson in the 2025 remake of I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Prinze Jr. met Sarah Michelle Gellar while filming I Know What You Did Last Summer. They began dating in 2000 and wed in 2002. They share children Charlotte (born in 2009) and Rocky (born in 2012).
