
Jimmy Carter
Jimmy Carter is a former President of the United States.
Carter graduated from the Naval Academy and served as a submarine officer in the Navy during the Korean War. He later became a peanut farmer before becoming the Governor of Georgia. He was elected the 39th U.S. President in 1977, serving until 1981.
After leaving office, he established the Carter Center, a non-profit organization that works to promote democracy and human rights around the world. Carter has been awarded numerous honors for his philanthropic work, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.
In his personal life, Carter was married to his wife, Rosalynn, from 1946 until her death in 2023. They shared four children together and 11 grandchildren.
Carter died in December 2024 at the age of 100.
