About

Martina Mariea Schiff, famously known as Martina McBride, is a country singer known for her hit songs like “Independence Day” and “Concrete Angel.” She grew up in a musical family and began her journey singing and playing keyboards with her father’s band. She initially worked as a demo singer and gained recognition while selling merchandise on Garth Brooks’ tour, which led to her securing a recording contract.

McBride released her debut album, The Time Has Come, in 1992, but her breakthrough came with her second album, The Way That I Am (1993), featuring hits like “My Baby Loves Me” and “Independence Day.” Throughout her career she has released more than a dozen studio albums, earning acclaim for songs such as “A Broken Wing,” “Concrete Angel” and “This One’s for the Girls.”

She has received numerous accolades, including four Country Music Association Awards and three Academy of Country Music Awards. McBride has also been nominated for 14 Grammy Awards and has sold over 14 million albums in the U.S.

In May 1988, McBride married sound mixer John McBride. They share three daughters, Delaney (born December 1994), Emma (born March 1998) and Ava (born June 2005). The family resides in Nashville.
