Reneé Rapp
Actress and singer Reneé Rapp got her start on Broadway in the musical Mean Girls as Regina George. When she was cast in 2019, she agreed to join the show under the condition that producers Tina Fey and Lorne Michaels help her find the connections to start her music career.
Rapp stayed with the show from June 2019 until March 2020, sharing the stage with Sabrina Carpenter twice before the doors closed amid the COVID-19 pandemic. She reprised her role as Regina in the musical movie adaptation of Mean Girls, which hit theaters in January 2024.
She scored a leading role on Max’s Sex Lives of College Girls, a comedy cocreated by Mindy Kaling, which debuted in November 2021. Rapp starred as Leighton, a stuck-up trust fund student who was coming to terms with her sexuality. The actress left the series in season 3, which aired in 2024, though Rapp appeared in multiple episodes to wrap up her character’s storyline.
Rapp left the show to focus on her music career, which blew up while she was on the show. After signing with Interscope Records, she dropped her EP Everything to Everyone in November 2022, followed by her album Snow Angel in August 2023. She also had a viral hit with her single from the Mean Girls soundtrack, “Not My Fault” (featuring Megan Thee Stallion).
The performer has been open about her own sexuality, first identifying as bisexual in 2022 and later explaining in 2024 that she identifies as a lesbian. She was linked to Broadway actor Antonio Cipriano from 2019 to 2021 and then to TikTok influencer Alissa Carrington for several months in 2023. She and fellow singer Towa Bird made their red carpet debut as a couple in March 2024 before sharing the stage at several concerts throughout the year.
