About

Sara Bareilles is a singer-songwriter and actress who started her music career as an independent artist, performing in local clubs and coffeehouses in Los Angeles after graduating from the University of California, Los Angeles, with a degree in English. She self-released her first album, Careful Confessions, in 2004, which led her to signing with Epic Records in 2005.

She later gained recognition for her first studio album, Little Voice (2007), which featured the hit single “Love Song.” The track reached No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned her a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year. Bareilles has sold over 3 million albums and 15 million singles in the U.S.

Bareilles expanded her career with her contributions to Broadway, composing the musical Waitress, which debuted in 2015. She received nominations for a Tony Award for Best Original Score and a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album. Bareilles has also earned acclaim for her acting, specifically for her performance in the live NBC production Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert (2018), which garnered her an Emmy nomination. She also stars in Netflix’s Girls5Eva.

Throughout her career Bareilles has won multiple awards, including two Grammy Awards.

Bareilles is engaged to actor Joe Tippett, who she met while working on Waitress.
