About

Terry Crews is an actor, television host and former NFL player. Crews has appeared in numerous TV shows, including Everybody Hates Chris and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and films such as White Chicks and Friday After Next.

Before acting, Crews was drafted to the NFL by the Los Angeles Rams in 1991. During his football career, he played as both linebacker and defensive end for the Green Bay Packers, San Diego Chargers, Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles, from which he retired in 1997.

In 1999, he received his first small screen gig in the game show Battle Dome. His big break was in 2002’s Friday After Next, starring Ice Cube, for whom Crews had worked as on-set security. He later received a role in White Chicks (2004), and Adam Sandler loved his performance so much that he rewrote a character in The Longest Yard (2005) for Crews to be in the film.

After making his mark in film, Crews gained even more recognition in the sitcom world, playing Julius Rock on Everybody Hates Chris from 2005 to 2009 and Terry Jeffords on Brooklyn Nine-Nine from 2013 to 2021.

In 2019, Crews began hosting America’s Got Talent and later hosted the spinoff America’s Got Talent: Champions.

When he was a sophomore in college at Western Michigan University, Crews met his wife, Rebecca King-Crews. They married on July 29, 1989, and share daughters Naomi (born March 1987), Azriel (born November 1990), Tera (born 1999), and Wynfrey (born February 2003) as well as son Isaiah (born June 2005).

In 2014, Crews released an autobiography titled Manhood: How to Be a Better Man or Just Live With One.
