Tony Bennett, born Anthony Dominick Benedetto, was a renowned American jazz and traditional pop singer whose career spanned over seven decades. He achieved his first No. 1 hit with “Because of You” in 1951 and became globally recognized for classics like “I Left My Heart in San Francisco.”

Throughout his career, Bennett received numerous accolades, including 20 Grammy Awards, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001 and two Primetime Emmy Awards. He was also celebrated as a Kennedy Center Honoree and named a National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master.

Beyond his musical achievements, Bennett was a dedicated painter, with works exhibited under his birth name and a philanthropist who cofounded the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Queens.

Bennett passed away on July 21, 2023, at the age of 96, leaving behind a legacy as one of America’s most cherished vocalists.
