About

Tyler Gregory Okonma, better known as Tyler, the Creator, is a rapper, singer, songwriter and producer, known for expressing his bold personality through his music and fashion. Tyler emerged onto the music scene around 2007 as a cofounder in the alternative hip-hop collective, Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (Odd Future for short). Composed of his other teen friends, the collective dropped music, filmed TV shows and skits and released clothing items.

While still a part of the collective, on Christmas Day in 2009, Tyler self-released his debut album, Bastard. In 2011, Tyler released the music video to “Yonkers,” a song off his second solo album, Goblin, to much acclaim. Tyler was nominated for Video of the Year at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, though he didn’t win this award, he did take home the moon person for Best New Artist. Tyler skyrocketed to commercial success for his fifth studio album, Flower Boy, in 2017.

Many songs off that album gained traction on social media around the pandemic, like “See You Again” ft. Kali Uchis, “Boredom,” ft. Rex Orange County and “9/11 and Mr. Lonely.” Since then, Tyler has released Igor (2019), Call Me If You Get Lost (2022) and Chromakopia (2024). Igor and Call Me If You Get Lost debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Both LPs won Best Rap Album at the 2020 and 2022 Grammy Awards respectfully.
