Joanna Newsom
Joanna Newsom is a singer-songwriter and harpist. Newsom began playing harp as a child and later studied composition and creative writing at Mills College in Oakland before leaving to focus on her music career.
Newsom started performing in the early 2000s and released her debut album, The Milk-Eyed Mender, in 2004 to critical acclaim. Her 2006 follow-up, Ys, produced by Van Dyke Parks, earned her a broader audience and solidified her status in the indie folk world. She later released works such as Have One on Me (2010) and Divers (2015).
The musician has also made a handful of television appearances, including on shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Late Show With Stephen Colbert and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Newsom married actor and comedian Andy Samberg in 2013 after dating for five years. The couple welcomed their first child in 2017 and their second in 2023.
