Michelle Monaghan

Michelle Monaghan is an actress best known for her appearances in Mission: Impossible III (2006), Made of Honor (2008) and The White Lotus. Monaghan left her hometown of Winthrop, Iowa, in 1994 to briefly attend Columbia College Chicago, where she studied journalism before leaving to pursue modeling and acting.

Monaghan’s modeling career took off shortly after, taking her to Europe and Asia before she made her way back to the U.S. for her Hollywood debut. She landed her first minor role on the drama Young Americans in 2000 and made her film debut in Perfume the following year. She went on to star in the Oscar-nominated Unfaithful (2002) before landing a breakout role as Julia Meade in Mission: Impossible III alongside Tom Cruise in 2006. She reprised the role in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (2011) and Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018).

Her later notable works include Patriots Day (2016) and MaXXXine (2024). She received critical acclaim for her performance in HBO’s True Detective season 1 and later starred in season 3 of the network’s Emmy-winning show The White Lotus.

The actress tied the knot with artist Peter White in 2005. They share two children, daughter Willow Katherine (born in 2008) and son Tommy Francis (born in 2013).
