Rose Leslie

Rose Leslie is a Scottish actress best known for her roles on Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones. Leslie spent part of her childhood residing at Lickleyhead Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, before briefly moving to France. She went on to attend the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, where she studied acting for three years.

Leslie landed her first onscreen role in 2008 on the docudrama Locked Up Abroad. The following year, she earned her first leading role in the TV film New Town (2009) and went on to appear in projects such as Case Histories (2011) and Now Is Good (2012). In 2010, she joined the cast of ITV’s Downton Abbey as Gwen Harding, a role she played until 2015. In 2012, she joined the cast of Game of Thrones as Ygritte. She earned high critical acclaim for her performance on the show and remained part of the cast until 2014.

Leslie has also acted in shows such as The Good Fight, Miss Austen and The Hack, and some of her later film work includes Morgan (2016) and Death on the Nile (2022).

The actress began dating Game of Thrones costar Kit Harrington in 2011, and the pair wed in 2018. The twosome welcomed a son in 2021 and a daughter in 2023.
