Glenn Close was born to socialite Bettine Moore Close and doctor William Taliaferro in 1947. Close has two brothers and two sisters.

Making her film debut in 1980’s The World According to Garp, Close starred alongside Robin Williams and received her first Oscar nomination for the role. Her credits in film and TV include Fatal Attraction, Tarzan, 101 Dalmatians, The Wife, Hillbilly Elegy, Reversal of Fortune, The Paper, Mars Attacks!, Air Force One, Damages, Tehran and Guardians of the Galaxy, among others. For her work, Close has received three Emmy and Golden Globe wins, respectively, two SAG awards, eight Oscar nominations and three Grammy nominations.

Beyond her work on screen, Close is known as a Broadway great, winning three Tony Awards throughout her career. Her Broadway credits include The Real Thing, Death and the Maiden, Sunset Boulevard, Barnum and A Delicate Balance.

She was previously married four times; to Jack Roose from 1965 to 1968; Cabot Wade from 1969 to 1971; James Marlas from 1984 to 1987 and David Evans Shaw from 2006 to 2015. She has one daughter, Annie Starke, from when she dated producer John Starke.
