
Marilu Henner
Marilu Henner is an American actress, author and health advocate best known for her role as Elaine Nardo on the hit sitcom Taxi. Henner was born and raised in Chicago, where she studied at the University of Chicago and began her career in musical theater before transitioning to television and film.
Henner’s breakout role came in 1978 when she was cast as cabbie Elaine Nardo on Taxi, which aired for five seasons and earned her five Golden Globe nominations, including the nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series. She went on to appear in films including Johnny Dangerously (1984), Cannonball Run II (1984), L.A. Story (1991) and Noises Off (1992). On stage, she has appeared in productions such as Grease, Over Here! and Chicago. She also competed on Dancing With the Stars in 2016 alongside pro Derek Hough.
In addition to acting, Henner is known for having highly superior autobiographical memory (HSAM), which allows her to recall nearly every day of her life in detail. She has written several books on health, memory and wellness, and frequently appears as a guest expert on related topics.
Henner was wed to Frederic Forrest from 1980 to 1982 and later had a long-term relationship with director Robert Lieberman, with whom she shares sons Nicolas and Joseph. She married her college sweetheart, Michael Brown, in 2006.
